How to Quickly Design Floating Vanities in CABINET VISION: The Ultimate Shortcut

Post Series: Cabinet Vision Power User

Floating vanities, also known as wall-hung vanities, are a sleek and stylish addition to modern bathroom designs. They not only save space but also add a touch of sophistication to any room. In this tutorial, Tayla reveals an efficient way to create floating vanities using CABINET VISION, saving you time and effort.
Let’s dive into the quickest way to achieve this sleek design!

Watch the video below.

Step 1: Set Up Your Room Construction for Floating Vanities

Instead of manually adjusting each cabinet to create a floating effect, there’s a much faster method. By modifying the construction settings for your room, you can automatically set all your cabinets to have the correct elevation and no toe kick.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Cabinet Construction Settings:
    • Open your Room tab and select Cabinet Construction.
    • Click on Modify Construction for the current room. Note: These changes will only apply to this specific room unless you choose to save them as system-wide defaults.
  2. Adjust the Toe Kick Settings:
    • Under Exterior Case, double-click to access the toe kick standards.
    • Set the Toe Height to 300 mm (or your desired height for floating).
    • Increase the Toe Kick Setback to a value greater than the cabinet depth (e.g., set it to 550 mm for a 500 mm deep cabinet). This eliminates the visible toe kick, making your cabinets appear to float.
  3. Apply the Changes:
    • After making these adjustments, click OK to save. You’ll be prompted to update the room with these new settings.
    • The construction type will now be labelled as “modified frameless,” confirming that your changes have been applied.

Step 2: Adding Your Floating Vanities

With the room settings adjusted, adding floating vanities is now a breeze:

  • Simply drag and drop your cabinets into the room, and they’ll automatically have the desired 300 mm elevation with no visible toe kick.
  • Switch to the 3D View to confirm that everything is set up correctly. You’ll see that the vanities are perfectly aligned and floating.

Step 3: Easily Adjust Heights to Fit Client Requests

One of the major advantages of using this method is the flexibility to quickly adjust all cabinets at once if your client changes their mind about the height:

  • Go back to the Cabinet Construction settings.
  • Modify the toe kick height to the new measurement (e.g., change it from 300 mm to 350 mm).
  • Update the room settings, and all your cabinets will instantly adjust to the new height.

This method saves you the hassle of adjusting each cabinet individually and ensures a consistent look throughout your project.

Why This Method is a Game-Changer

By using CABINET VISION’s room construction settings, you can quickly and easily design floating vanities without the tedious manual adjustments. This efficient workflow is perfect for projects where consistency and speed are key, allowing you to spend more time on creativity and less on repetitive tasks.
