Top 5 takeaways from the AWMAC QC Technology Panel Discussion
By Jean Bakhache, Planit Canada Sales Consultant
It was an honour to participate in a recent Technology Panel discussion for the Quebec chapter of AWMAC during their 8th annual general meeting in Ste-Hyacinthe on January 16th. It was a well-attended affair, featuring innovative suppliers and excellent programming. My congratulations go out to Charles Besmargian, Director General of AWMAC Quebec, on a fantastic event.
The technology panel included a series of question related to CAD software for architectural millwork. I represented Cabinet Vision software and enjoyed a respectful exchange with my friend/competitor that began with a game of “Rock Paper Scissors” to see who would speak first. The organization did a great job of creating a comprehensive list of questions around 8 themes, from development history to technical support and everything in between. Below are the top 5 takeaways from my 22-minute portion of the panel.
Top 5 Takeaways for Architectural Millwork
- Automatically generated 3D views and text
In Cabinet Vision, drawings are created in plan or elevation, and the 3D view is automatically generated. All materials, finish, and construction information is attached to those 2D drawings – meaning the text, dimensions, and 3D views for submission drawings are automatically generated and updated. - Easy DXF Importing
For importing AutoCAD files, simply batch import the DXF file and then trace the plan in Cabinet Vision. DXF export is also possible. - We connect to your machine
We’ve connected Cabinet Vision Screen-to-Machine (S2M) to over 17 000 machines across the world. Not only will S2M optimize your panels, but with the Offcut Manager feature, it will have a memory of larger offcuts and will use them in your next job. - Integration with most ERPs
Cabinet Vision has an open database and is therefore compatible with most ERP systems. The ERP or MES will pull the data from Cabinet Vision to generate accurate submissions, inventory and ordering information. - Planit Canada has your training & support covered
With bilingual technicians located across the country, we offer both online and onsite training tailored to your needs. We will work with you to create and schedule a training plan that will set your staff up for success – right from the start and through years of continuous improvement.
I’d love to show you all 10 pages of details about the software I’d written in preparation for the event, but the marketing boss has forced me to edit it down! If you have any questions about Cabinet Vision or AWMAC events, you can reach me at jeanb@planitcanada.ca .
